Doctorow {pwf 1997, 2007}, Hans Magnus Enzensberger {pwf 2004}, Norman Manea {pwf 2004}, Robert Menasse {pwf 2001, 2006}, Herta Müller {pwf 1999}, Gary Snyder {pwf 2007} and Ko Un {pwf 2002}—authors who have graced the Festival and await the prize.
Wole Soyinka {pwf 2006}, Nadine Gordimer {pwf 2004}, José Saramago {pwf 1994} and Harold Pinter {pwf 1999}—previous Nobel laureates—attended the Festival in recent years.
